Overview

Everest Tengboche Monastery Trekking is a short and easy trip in Everest Region.There is a famous monastery (Tengboche Monastery) which has been the heart of Sherpa culture since 1916.The first celibate monastery in Solu Khumbu, it is a community of about 40 monks under the leadership of the Abbot, Tyangboche Rinpoche ( Reincarnate lama).From Tyangboche one can see the abode of Menge Gyalmo Miyo-Lungsangma (Mt Everest), Ama Dablam to the east, Thamserku and Mt.Kangtega to the south, Tawache to the north and Kwangde to the west.Khumbila sits fat and beautiful in the middle of the valley. Below Tyangboche are many big trees, but halfway up are only a few large ones with many small shrubs. This trek heads from Lukla to the Sherpa towns up north. We spend time in the mountain village of Namche Bazaar which was a famous trading center between Tibet and Nepal. From Namche, we head up to the holy village of Tengboche. This has long been the religious center for all inhabitants of the Solu Khumbu area. There are numerous shrines and a beautiful monastery that sits at 3870 meters. You will take your time heading back to Lukla and there are many options for extra side trips. This trek takes 8 days up with some up and down hiking.

Day 01: Arrival in Kathmandu and check-in to Hotel

Day 02: Half Day Sightseeing Tour of Kathmandu Valley and Pre-trip Preparation

Day 03: Fly from Kathmandu to Lukla (2804m) and trek to Phakding (2610m) – 3 Hours overnight stay at the lodge

Day 04: Trek from Phakding to Namche Bazaar (3441m) – 5 Hours Overnight stay at the lodge.

Day 05: Acclimatization at Namche Bazaar overnight stay at the lodge

Day 06: Trek from Namche to Tengboche Monastery at (3’842m.) about 5 hours Trek Overnight stay at the lodge.

Day 07: Trek from Tengboche to Khumjung at (3’985m 13’074ft.) about 5 hours Trek Overnight stay at the lodge.

Day 08: Trek from Khumjung to Monjo at (2850m.) about 4 hours Trek Overnight stay at the lodge.

Day 09: Trek from Monjo to Lukla at (2860.) about 5 hours Trek Overnight stay at the lodge.

Day 10: Flight from Lukla to Kathmandu overnight stay at Hotel.

Details Itinerary

Day 01: Arrival in Kathmandu and check-in to Hotel

The representatives from World Sight Journeys will welcome you at Tribhuvan International Airport upon your arrival. We then transfer you to the hotel for the overnight stay.

Day 02: Half Day Sightseeing Tour of Kathmandu Valley and brief about Everest base camp Trek.

Today, we spend the half day for the sightseeing tour of Kathmandu Valley. You will have the half-day guided sightseeing of Kathmandu Valley covering the major cultural attractions which have also been cited as The World Heritage Cultural Sites. After having breakfast in the morning, we visit Bouddhanath, which is also known as Little Tibet and also is one of the oldest and largest Buddhist Monastery in the world. Following the Bouddhanath Monastery, we visit Swayambhunath, the Monkey Temple, which is equally revered by Hindus and Buddhists. Swayambhunath is an ancient religious complex atop a hill in the west of Kathmandu. After exploring the Swayambhunath Stupa, we back to the hotel for a briefing about the trek. overnight stay.

Day 03: Fly from Kathmandu to Lukla (2804m) and trek to Phakding (2610m) – 3 Hours

We get transferred to the domestic terminal of Kathmandu Domestic Airport this morning to catch our scheduled morning flight to Lukla. After 30 minute long adventurous flight above the breathtaking scenario of Himalayas, we land at the Tenzing-Hillary Airport at Lukla. Lukla is going to be the starting point of our trek. We meet our porters and other crew members and start trekking towards Phadking, which takes around three hours. We stay overnight at a Simple guesthouse.

Day 04: Trek from Phakding to Namche Bazaar (3441m) – 5 Hours

We walk through the beautiful forest of pine today. And our walk leads us along the Dudhkoshi River bank through many suspension bridges. We will be crossing Hillary Suspension bridge which is one of the famous suspension bridges in that region. We will have enough opportunity to witness the wonderful views of Mount Thamserku (6618m) during the walk. Passing through the settlements of Benkar and Monjo, we eventually arrive at the entrance to the Sagarmatha National Park. We still have a last village of Jorsale before reaching Namche. Following the trail ascending through the forests and bridges and overlooking the beautiful views of Mount Everest, Lhotse, and Nuptse, we continue our journey towards Namche. Namche is the gateway to Mount Everest and is also the main trading center of the region. We check into the guesthouse and stay there overnight.

Day 05: Rest day in Namche

Namche has tucked away between two ridges amidst the giant peaks of the Khumbu and has an abundance of lodges, tea shops and souvenir shops as well as a magnificent outlook that seems to meet western standards, even at this remote mountain outpost. The amazing Sherpa folks down here have learned a lot from the big expeditions that have passed this way. It is an ideal place to spend a rest day, acclimatizing to the new altitude before heading off towards Tengboche. Options for acclimatization walks include a visit to Khunde hospital which was set-up by Sir Edmund Hillary, or a one hour walk up to the Everest view hotel above Namche for the sunset view of Ama Dablam, Nuptse, Lhotse, and Everest. There are also good views from the national park center and museum just above the town. We have a nice time at Namche and then settle in for the night.

Day 06: Trek from Namche to Tengboche Monastery (3860m) – 5 Hours

We continue trekking along the rushing glacial waters of Dudh Koshi, which eventually brings us to Tengboche. You can visit the local monastery and can also get the opportunity to observe the prayer ceremony either in the morning or evening. We stay overnight at a guesthouse.

Day 07: Tengboche –Khumjung at (3’786m. 12’221ft.) about 6 hours Trek

From Tengboche, we descend to the bridge over the Dudh Kosi at Phunki Tenga, where there are water driven prayer wheels, before making our way to Khumjung Sherpa village which is popular trekking original Sherpa Culture.

Day 08: Trek from Khumjung to Monju (2865m) – 5 Hours

From Khumjung, we return back to Monju. With this, we mark the end of our trekking. We stay overnight at guesthouse.

Day 09: Trek from Monjo to Lukla(2865m) – 5 Hours

From Khumjung, we return back to Lukla. With this, we mark the end of our trekking. We stay overnight at guesthouse.

Day 10: Flight from Lukla to Kathmandu

We get the scheduled morning flight to Kathmandu from Lukla. The flight is going to be very scenic and adventurous. On arriving Kathmandu, you can take your time to go for your last minute shopping or you can choose to explore the city even more. We stay overnight at a guesthouse. (Fare Well Dinner).

Day 11: Final Departure

Early Morning after breakfast, you take the returning flight to your hometown. Our representatives will assist you to reach the airport. You return to your home with an unforgettable travel experience in Nepal.
