Khayar Lake Trek is also popular among trekkers as Khopra Trek and it offers you the wonderful views of Nilgiri, Dhaulagiri, and Machhapuchhre. During this trek, we pass through many beautiful Gurung settlements. We also venture into such areas where there is no human settlement. Khayar Lake is indeed a virgin destination for trekking; only a few trekkers have been here yet. But, it’s been popular in recent days among trekkers who love wilderness experience in the unique destinations of Himalayas. The enchanting landscape of this wonderful lake offers you the splendid Himalayan ranges and plentiful wildlife as well. Both KhopraDanda and Khayar Lake are the major attractions in this area for the tourists. You can have perfect views of dozens of highest mountains from Khayar Lake and KhopraDanda. Details Itinerary

Day 01: Arrival in Kathmandu and check-in to Hotel

The representatives from World Sight Journeys will welcome you at Tribhuvan International Airport upon your arrival. We then transfer you to the hotel for the overnight stay.

Day 02: Full Day Sightseeing Tour of Kathmandu Valley and Pre-trip Preparation

Today, we spend the whole for the sightseeing tour of Kathmandu Valley. You will have the full day guided sightseeing of Kathmandu Valley covering the major cultural attractions which have also been cited as The World Heritage Cultural Sites. After having breakfast in the morning, we visit Pashupatinath, which is considered the holiest temple of Lord Shiva.  We then head to Bauddhanath, which is also known as Little Tibet and also is one of the oldest and largest Buddhist Monastery in the world. Following the Bauddhanath Monastery, we visit Swayambhunath, the Monkey Temple, which is equally revered by Hindus and Buddhists.   Swayambhunath is an ancient religious complex atop a hill in the west of Kathmandu. After exploring the Swayambhunath Stupa, we drive to Kathmandu (Basantpur) Durbar Square. If time allows, you can explore the city. Finally, you will have dinner at the hotel and stay there overnight.

Day 03: Drive from Kathmandu to Pokhara (914m) – 7 Hours

After having breakfast in the morning today, we drive to Pokhara. It takes around 7 hours to reach Pokhara from Kathmandu by bus. You can also take the flight which takes about 30 minutes and in the remaining time, take your time to explore the Pokhara city and Lakeside. We stay overnight at a guesthouse in Pokhara.

Day 04: Drive from Pokhara to Nayapul and Trek to Tikhedhunga (1577m) – 5 Hours

Today, we are going to begin our actual trek from Nayapul. So, we take a short drive to Nayapul from Pokhara which takes about an hour. From Nayapul, we take a short walk along the banks of Modi Khola, which brings us to Birethanti (1015m). From there, our trail continues through the village and climbs continuously up the side to the Hille (1495m). We eventually reach Tikhedhunga (1577m) where we stay overnight at a guesthouse.

Day 05: Trek from Tikhedhunga to Ghorepani (2675m) – 6 Hours

From Tikhedhunga, we move on towards the steep climb to Ulleri (2070m). Ulleri is a large Magar village. Our trail ascends more gently from this point through fine forests of oak and rhododendrons towards Banthanti (2250m). After walking for a couple of hours, we arrive at Ghorepani (2840m) where we stay overnight.

Day 06: Hike to Poon Hill (3120m) and trek back to Ghorepani and then to Tadapani(2675m) – 7 Hours

Early in the morning today, we start an hour hiking to Poon Hill (3210m) which is the best viewpoint in the Annapurna Region. Poon Hill offers the best opportunity to witness the phenomenal panorama of the beautiful peaks including Annapurna and Dhaulagiri. Poon Hill is regarded as the Photographer’s paradise. You can enjoy the unobstructed views of the sunrise over stunning snowcapped Himalayas. Poon Hill also offers the best views of the sunset too. After spending about an hour at Poon Hill, we return back to Ghorepani. We take our breakfast at Ghorepani and after that, we continue climbing along the ridges through the forest of pines and rhododendron. The climb brings us to Deurali (2960m) and descending further takes us to Tadapani eventually. We stay overnight at a guesthouse in Tadapani (2610m).

Day 07: Trek from Tadapani to Dobato (3350m) – 6 Hours

We continue leaving the main trail to ascend on a less defined path through the forest. This area offers itself to explore and appreciate the magnificent mountain views and diverse flora and fauna. Following the trail further, we eventually reach Dobato where we stay overnight at tented accommodation.

Day 08: Trek from Dobato to Chistibung (3000m) – 5 Hours

From Dobato, we move onto a ridge that follows from the very summit of Annapurna South per se. We further follow the trail to Kaligandaki valley finally reach Christibung where we stay overnight at tented accommodation.

Day 09: Trek from Chistibung to KhopraDanda (4020m) – 5 Hours

Today’s walk will be steady but comfortable in the morning. We rise through the forest and above the tree line. Enjoying the excellent views of Nilgiri, Dhaulagiri I, Annapurna South and Annapurna I, and Tukuche Peak, we eventually reach the wonderful ridge called KhopraDanda.

Day 10: Trek from KhopraDanda to Khayar Base Camp (4620m) – 5 Hours

Today we head to Khayar Base Camp from KhopraDanda. It takes about five hours to reach the base camp where we stay overnight at tented accommodation.

Day 11: Trek from Khayar Base Camp to KhopraDanda (4020m) – 5 Hours

For those who are feeling fit and quite enthusiastic as well, the trip to Khayar Lake High above is well worth the effort. We walk even close to the sheer cliff face of the Fang. We have to descend down to Khopradanda where we stay overnight at tented accommodation.

Day 12: Trek from KhopraDanda to Swata (2270m) – 5 Hours

Today, we descend steeply from our camp at KhopraDanda following the ridgeline towards the Kali Gandaki. Passing the shrines used by pilgrims on their annual visit to the sacred lakes, we eventually reach Swata where we stay overnight at tented accommodation.

Day 13: Trek from Swata to Ghorepani (2853m) – 4 Hours

After having our breakfast in the morning, we start our journey today. A short walk brings us to Chitre. Following the zigzag trail and enjoying the excellent views of Dhaulagiri range, we finally reach Ghorepani where we stay overnight at tented accommodation.

Day 14: Trek from Ghorepani to Nayapul and drive to Pokhara – 4 Hours

Today is the final day of our trek. So, we follow our trail back to Nayapul from Ghorepani. From Nayapul, we take a short drive to Pokhara where we stay overnight at a guesthouse.

Day 15: Drive back to Kathmandu from Pokhara

We drive back to Kathmandu from Pokhara today. Upon reaching Kathmandu, you can utilize your time for the last minute shopping or you can explore the city. We celebrate the Farewell Dinner together with the trekking team and spend overnight at the hotel.

Day 16: Final Departure

Today, you take the returning flight to your hometown. Our representatives will assist you to reach the airport. You return to your home with an unforgettable travel experience in Nepal.
