Lower Dolpo Trekking needs special trekking permit from the Government of Nepal. With the trekking permits from Nepal Government, we start Lower Dolpo Trip with the sightseeing tour of Kathmandu valley where we explore some of the world-famous cultural and historical heritages that have been described as the World Heritage Sites by UNESCO. We then catch our scheduled flight to Nepalgunj and further to Jhupal. The actual trek to Lower Dolpo begins from Jhupal. Lower Dolpo Trek lets you explore and experience the high altitude tundra vegetation. The microclimate of Lower Dolpo region and Phoksundo Lake are the other highlights of Trekking in Lower Dolpo. The cold breeze of glaciers in the Kanjirowa Mountain Range will let you experience the uniqueness and true Himalayan introduction of Lower Dolpo itself. Besides some of the deepest Himalayan lakes, you will also explore yak caravans that are known to have maintained the traditional salt trade with Tibet since years centuries ago. Details Itinerary

Day 01: Arrival in Kathmandu and check-in to Hotel

The representatives from World Sight Journeys will welcome you at Tribhuvan International Airport upon your arrival. We then transfer you to the hotel for the overnight stay.

Day 02: Full Day Sightseeing Tour of Kathmandu Valley and Pre-trip Preparation

Today, we spend the whole for the sightseeing tour of Kathmandu Valley. You will have the full day guided sightseeing of Kathmandu Valley covering the major cultural attractions which have also been cited as The World Heritage Cultural Sites. After having breakfast in the morning, we visit Pashupatinath, which is considered the holiest temple of Lord Shiva.  We then head to Bauddhanath, which is also known as Little Tibet and also is one of the oldest and largest Buddhist Monastery in the world. Following the Bauddhanath Monastery, we visit Swayambhunath, the Monkey Temple, which is equally revered by Hindus and Buddhists.   Swayambhunath is an ancient religious complex atop a hill in the west of Kathmandu. After exploring the Swayambhunath Stupa, we drive to Kathmandu (Basantpur) Durbar Square. If time allows, you can explore the city. Finally, you will have dinner at the hotel and stay there overnight.

Day 03: Flight from Kathmandu to Nepalgunj

Today, we transfer to the domestic airport for the scenic flight to Nepalgunj as per the flight schedule. It will take about one and half hours to reach Nepalgunj. We check into the hotel upon Nepalgunj where we stay overnight.

Day 04: Flight from Nepalgunj to Jhupal (2400m) and Trek to Dunai (2150m) – 4hours

Today, we transfer to the airport early in the morning for the flight to Jhupal. It takes about 40 minutes to reach Jhupal from Nepalgunj. On reaching Jhupal, we begin our actual trek and head towards Dunai. It takes almost three hours to reach Dunai from Jhupal. We stay overnight at tented accommodation.

Day 05: Trek from Dunai to Tarakot (2543m) – 6 Hours

We continue trekking along the south bank of the river heading upstream. We can get to observe suspension bridges, deep gorges, and isolated villages. Passing through a massive gorge with pine forests, we finally arrive at Tarakot village where we stay overnight at tented accommodation.

Day 06: Trek from Tarakot to Laini (3160m) – 7 Hours

We start our day with walking through Tarap Chu River upstream. We will be crossing the same river twice today. On the way, there is a famed Sandul Gompa situated at farther east from Tarakot. Passing through some farming fields and villages, we eventually reach Laini where we stay overnight at tented accommodation.

Day 07: Trek from Laini to Nawarpani (3545m) – 5 Hours

Today, we continue walking up to the gorge of Tarap River. Walking through the narrow gorge becomes quite exciting today. Descending to the Chyugur Khola, we eventually make a way to Laini where we stay overnight at tented accommodation.

Day 08: Trek from Nawarpani to Do Tarap (4090m) – 7 Hours

After having breakfast in the morning, we head gradually up to Kamattarka at the confluence of Tarap Chu and Lang Khola. Leaving a narrow gorge behind, we now walk along the path above the forest. Eventually, we arrive at Dho Tarap village where we stay overnight at tented accommodation.

Day 09: Acclimatization at Do Tarap

Today will be another rest day for us. And we can explore the local areas in Dho Tarap. We stay overnight at the tented accommodation.

Day 10: Trek from Numa La Base Camp (4440m) – 6 Hours

We spend a wonderful time at Do Darap. We then continue our journey towards Upper Tarap valley following the trail through the plain valley which is entirely different from other parts of Inner Dolpo. We will the walking along the Tarap Chu upstream all the way. Passing by the villages of Tokyu, we eventually reach at Numa La Base Camp where we stay overnight at tented accommodation.

Day 11: Cross Numa La Pass (5190m) and trek to Pelung Tang (4465m) – 7 Hours

Today is going to be one of the difficult and long treks. As we continue to cross the Numa La Pass (5190m), our track leads to steep climb all the way to the top ridge of Numa La.We can witness the incredible views of surrounding landscapes from ridge top that include the panorama of barren mountains of Dolpo to Dhaulagiri massif. From the top of Numa La, we descend down to Pelung where we stay overnight at tented accommodation.

Day 12: Cross Baga La Pass (5070m) and trek to Dajok Tang (4080m) – 6 Hours

We start our trek with a steep climb to the ridge top of Baga La Pass (5070m). Baga La offers the splendid views of the surrounding landscapes and distant snow peaks of Kanjirowa range. After spending a glorious moment at the pass, we descend downhill to reach Dajok Tang eventually. We stay overnight at tented accommodation.

Day 13: Trek from Dajok Tang to Ringmo (3600m) – 4 Hours

Today, we start in the morning passing through the pine forest. Leaving the forest behind the country and passing through the pasture fields and alpine shrubs, we eventually make a final way to Ringmo, where we stay overnight at tented accommodation.

Day 14: Rest day at Ringmo and hike around Phoksundo Lake

We take this day as a rest and exploration day. We explore the Phoksudo Lake and its spectacular surroundings. For sure this day is the pleasant day free from the hassle of packing. We can even get chance to visit the nearby Tibetan Buddhist Monastery. We stay overnight at tented accommodation.

Day 15: Trek from Ringmo to Shyanta (2520m) – 6 Hours

From Ringmo, we trek downhill to Cheka following the massive overhanging rock. This place is known to have many important medicinal minerals which are believed to cure almost anything in this area. Passing through some villages, we make the final ascent to Santa where we stay overnight at tented accommodation.

Day 16: Trek from Shyanta to Jhupal – 5 Hours

We follow the trail gently sloping upwards and then march towards Sulighat. Passing through birch trees and spectacular mountain views on our way, we eventually make our way to Jhupal where we stay overnight at local guesthouse.

Day 17: Flight from Jhupal to Nepalgunj and then to Kathmandu

Today, we take two scenic flights, the first to Nepalgunj from Jhupal and the second is to Kathmandu from Nepalgunj. We stay overnight at a hotel in Kathmandu.

Day 18: Final Departure

Today, you take the returning flight to your hometown. Our representatives will assist you to reach the airport. You return to your home with an unforgettable travel experience in Nepal.
