Overview
Tharpu Chuli (5850m.) which is also known as the tent peak is the popular trekking peak of the Annapurna region.Tharpuchuli Peak Climbing is situated in the heart of Annapurna Sanctuary above the Annapurna Valley. Tharpu Chuli or Tent Peak is directly opposite of the Mt. Machhapuchhre, the virgin mountain. From the base camp of the Tharpu Chuli, you climb the peak from North-West Ridge route. Tent peak climbing provides the face to face stunning view of the Mt. Machhapuchhre. Tharpu Chuli Peak climbing provides the chance to experience high mountain expedition climbing at lower elevated peak. From the summit of the Tharpu Chuli, you can observe the exciting views of the mountains like Machhapuchhre, Annapurna, Dhaulagiri and other surrounding mountains of the Annapurna range.
Along with the amazing view from the summit of the Tharpu Chuli, the trekking to the Base camp of the peak provides the lifetime memory to climbers with its natural beauty and the cultural grandeur. The journey to the base camp of the Tharpu Chuli or Tent peak begins with the scenic drive from the Pokhara valley to Nayapul. During the trek you enjoy the natural scenery and can explore ethnic culture of Gurung, Magar, Brahmin, and Chhetri etc in different villages like Tikhedhunga, Chhomrong, Donovan, Ghandruk etc. you pass through the dense forest of rhododendron, river valleys, emerald terraced fields, enjoying the view of the waterfalls and mountains. On the way, you can hike to Poon Hill which is the best viewpoint to observe the sunset and sunrise view in the snow-clad mountains. The best season to go for the Tharpu Chuli or Tent peak climbing is autumn and spring when the weather is clear and you can have the clear view of the mountains as well as the natural scenery.
Details Itinerary
Day 01: Arrival at Kathmandu
Upon your arrival at Kathmandu at TIA, a representative of World Sight Journey will warmly welcome you to Nepal. She/he will guide you towards the hotel room of Nepal. The day can be either rest day or some sightseeing day of Kathmandu. The night will be at the hotel by discussing the tour and enjoying the delicious dinner.
Day 02: Kathmandu to Pokhara
Early morning, the trekking will starts with a drive over to Pokhara. The route goes for about 7 to 8 hours on bus. We will certainly enjoy the panoramic view of the roadside houses and forest. The night will be fascinating at Pokhara viewing some spectacular places around the valley. The night will be at one of the best hotel at Pokhara.
Day 03: Pokhara to Nayapul (drive) and to Tikhedhunga (trek)
At Pokhara, we will rise early in the morning to view the best view of rays of sun piercing the white snows on Machhapuchhre Mountain and other similar mountains of same region. After enjoying that eye-catching view, we will take a short drive to Nayapul. And after then, we will trek further to Tikhedhunga for about 3 hours.
Day 04: Tikhedhunga to Ghorepani
From Tikhedhunga, we move towards the steep hills to Ulleri. Ulleri is one of the beautiful Magars villages of Nepal. Then the trail will move following the forest of Pine and oak along with some rhododendrons. After passing through several villages, we will be finally at Ghorepani at 2840m. The night will be exciting at Ghorepani after a walk of 5 hours.
Day 05: Hike up to Poon hill and trek to Tadapani
Early morning, with the energy of hot and refreshing breakfast, we will take a short hike to Poon hill from where we can get the spectacular and unobstructed view of mountain ranges. After spending some glorious moments at the Poon hill, we will return back to Ghorepani and will trek towards the Tadapani. The route to Tadapani will follows the forests of rhododendron and pine to the elevation of 2610m. The night will be resting at Tadapani.
Day 06: Tadapani to Chhomrong
From Tadapani, the trekking route goes towards the down of the hill through the forest of rhododendron. The path passes through the villages of Gurung people. The trail goes easy and smoothly to Chhomrong at 2140m.
Day 07: Chhomrong to Dovan
The trail drops down to the river of Chhomrong and will again goes steeply to Khuldighar at 2380m. Then the trek follows the down path from the forest keeping away the west side of the river. The night will be at one of the better guest houses of Dovan.
Day 08: Trek to Deurali
From Dovan, only a trek of about 4 to 4.5 hours will be enough to reach to Deurali, but is very risky as snow avalanches and attitude is becoming nerve for many trekkers. The trail stars following the forest of bamboo and rhododendron to the Hinko cave. The continue trail will leads us at Deurali at 3200m. The night will be at Deurali.
Day 09: Trek to Annapurna Base camp
From Deurali, we will trek towards the Annapurna base camp following the mountain surrounded area where once there used to be a base camp of Machhapuchhre Mountain. We need to continue the trail without stopping to Annapurna base camp. The phenomenon may go for about 5 to 6 hours long. The night will be spectacular at tented camp.
Day 10: Base camp to Tharpu base camp
From the Annapurna Base camp, we will follow the trail towards the Tent peak high camp. We will walk towards the tough trail viewing the best and marvelous view of mountains while trekking at this region. The night will be at the tented camp at Tharpu Chuli base camp.
Day 11: Tharpu summit and back to Annapurna base camp
From the base camp of Tharpu Chuli, we will start the early morning trek to the summit of Tharpu Chuli. We will view the glorious view of the mountains from the top while climbing at the high lands. Then we will return back to the trail to the base camp of Tharpu Chuli. The night will be at the base camp of Annapurna Mountain.
Day 12: Annapurna Base camp to Bamboo
We will wake up early in the morning to view the morning view of Annapurna Mountain through our naked eyes. The view will be simply spectacular. The trail will then goes towards the downhill to the height of 2345m with a fall of about 1700m to the bank of Modi Khola and to bamboo. We may get the opportunity of spending the night at one of the tea houses/ resorts available there. The night will be remarkable.
Day 13: Bamboo to Jhinu
From bamboo, we will start our trek earlier by following the way to Chhomrong. We won’t stop ourselves there and will continue passing the Khuldighar. We need to continue our trail towards the forest of rhododendron and bamboo to reach ultimately to Jhinu Khola where we may enjoy the hot spring water to relax ourselves. The night will be at Jhinu at nearest hotel.
Day 14: Jhinu to Nayapul and drive to Pokhara
From Jhinu, after enjoying the lifetime remembering experience of hot natural spring water bath, we will motivate ourselves further to Nayapul. The reach of Nayapul will be fine for our lunchtime. We will have our lunch at Nayapul and will take the short drive to Pokhara. The night will be at Pokhara.
Day 15: Pokhara to Kathmandu
We will wake up early in the morning with the dazzling view of sun rising through the summit piercing the white snows. We will have a short visit over to the market around Pokhara and will take a drive back to Kathmandu. The drive goes for about 7 to 8 hours. The night will be relaxing at Kathmandu.
Day 16: Farewell
Finally, the day of returning back to our home country and busy schedule has come with the ending of our glittering tour over to the highlands of Nepal. World Sight Journey will organize a small farewell program at the airport and will help for any inconvenience that may arise during the departure. We wish for your better journey ahead.
