Upper Mustang Trekking is regarded as one of the most popular trekking packages in Nepal. Upper Mustang is known to be the ancient Himalayan Kingdom and is located in the north-central part of Nepal. Details Itinerary

Day 01: Arrival in Kathmandu and check-in to Hotel

The representatives from World Sight Journeys will welcome you at Tribhuvan International Airport upon your arrival. We then transfer you to the hotel for the overnight stay.

Day 02: Full Day Sightseeing Tour of Kathmandu Valley and Pre-trip Preparation

Today, we spend the whole for the sightseeing tour of Kathmandu Valley. You will have the full day guided sightseeing of Kathmandu Valley covering the major cultural attractions which have also been cited as The World Heritage Cultural Sites. After having breakfast in the morning, we visit Pashupatinath, which is considered the holiest temple of Lord Shiva.  We then head to Bauddhanath, which is also known as Little Tibet and also is one of the oldest and largest Buddhist Monastery in the world. Following the Bauddhanath Monastery, we visit Swayambhunath, the Monkey Temple, which is equally revered by Hindus and Buddhists.   Swayambhunath is an ancient religious complex atop a hill in the west of Kathmandu. After exploring the Swayambhunath Stupa, we drive to Kathmandu (Basantpur) Durbar Square. If time allows, you can explore the city. Finally, you will have dinner at the hotel and stay there overnight.

Day 03: Drive from Kathmandu to Pokhara

After having breakfast in the morning today, we drive to Pokhara. It takes around 7 hours to reach Pokhara from Kathmandu by bus. You can also take the flight which takes about 30 minutes and in the remaining time, take your time to explore the Pokhara city and Lakeside. We stay overnight at a guesthouse in Pokhara.

Day 04: Fly from Pokhara to Jomsom (2700m) and trek to Kagbeni (2858m) – 4 Hours

After having breakfast in the morning, we transfer to the airport for the morning scheduled flight to Jomsom. Jomsom is the district-headquarter of Mustang. On reaching Jomsom, we continue on the gradual path on Kali Gandaki River for about three hours and we eventually reach Ekley Bhatti village. From Ekley Bhatti, we then head off to Kagbeni. We stay overnight at Kagbeni.

Day 05: Trek from Kagbeni to Chele (3050m) – 6 Hours

We start from Kagbeni with a special permit checkup and onwards to the riverbank of Kaligandaki upstream. En route, we have a scenic picturesque place to stop through the sandy and windy trails. We follow the trail uphill and downhill. Eventually, we reach to the small ridges at Chele Village, where we stay overnight at Kagbeni.

Day 06: Trek from Chele to Syangboche (3475m) – 7 Hours

From Chele, we trek again and walk further to Ekle Bhatti. Crossing the Taklam La Pass (3624m) through the plateaus and narrow stretches with the views of Tilicho Peak, Damodar Danda, and Yakawa Kang, we eventually reach Syangboche.

Day 07: Trek from Syangboche to Ghaymi (3520m) – 6 Hours

We take our light breakfast in the morning and start trekking uphill to Yamada La (3850m) passing a few teahouses and local villages having Tibetan culture and traditions. After climbing the Nyi Pass (4010m), we descend down to Ghaymi village surrounded by large fields most of which are barren. We stay overnight at Ghaymi village.

Day 08: Trek from Ghaymi to Charang (3500m) — 5 Hours

Today, we cross the Ghaymi Khola, we ascend to the plateau and then pass beside a very long Mani wall. Well, Mani wall is a sacred stone wall made by the followers of Buddhism. We eventually reach the village of Charang with a maze of fields.

Day 09: Trek from Charang to Lo-Manthang (3700m) – 6 Hours

We trek to Lo-Manthang with some magnificent views of Tilicho, Annapurna I, Nilgiri and Bhrikuti Peak. Our trail first descends to Charang Chu Canyon and then ascends steeply after crossing the river. We further ascend gently to the pass of Lo from where you can witness the Lo-Mangthang valley.

Day 10: Acclimatization at Lo-Manthang

We spend the whole day today to explore the surrounding areas of Lo-Manthang. We visit Namgyal Gompa and Tingkhar. Well, Namgyal Gompa is situated on a hilltop and is considered as an important monastery in the local community. The local people consider this monastery also as a local court. We then visit to Tingkhar which is the last main village to the northwest of Lo-Manthang.

Day 11: Trek from Lo-Manthang to Drakmar (3810m) – 7 Hours

We take a different route than that we came by while returning from Lo-Manthang. We follow the route through Gyakar with more than 1200 years old Ghar Gompa with Guru Rinpoche as the primary figure. We continue the trek exploring the local area and eventually reach Drakmar.

Day 12: Trek from Drakmar to Ghiling (3806m) – 6 Hours

We get back to Ghiling today. After arrival and lunch, we enjoy the remaining time exploring the area but it’s more likely to get dusty wind tin the afternoon, so it is suggested to walk in the evening time.

Day 13: Trek from Ghiling to Chhuksang (3050m) – 6 Hours

From Ghiling, we start today’s journey exploring the beautiful scenery en route. After walking for about six hours, we eventually reach the village of Chhuksang, where we stay overnight at a local guesthouse.

Day 14: Trek from Chhuksang to Jomsom (2700m) – 7 Hours

This day is going to be the last day of our trek. And as this day trek would be a long one, it’s better to walk as early as possible to reach Kagbeni. After finishing the Upper Mustang trails, we now join the usual Annapurna Circuit trail. We head on to Jomsom after having lunch at Kagbeni. We stay overnight at a local guesthouse.

Day 15: Fly back to Pokhara and Pokhara Sightseeing

We catch an early morning flight to Pokhara today. And we spend the remaining day sightseeing the beautiful city of Pokhara, which is the best tourist destination in Nepal. Early in the morning, our first aim is to reach Sarangkot, which is popular among tourists as it offers the beautiful sunrise and sunset views. You can witness the phenomenal sunrise in the beautiful Machhapuchhre, Annapurna and Dhaulagiri ranges. After spending an hour at Sarankot, we drive back to Pokhara to explore the number of mysterious caves and temples. We take our time to enjoy boating in Fewa Lake and explore the Seti Gorge and Davis Falls. In the remaining time, you can explore the city. Overnight, we stay at a guesthouse.

Day 16: Drive back to Kathmandu

We drive back to Kathmandu from Pokhara today. Upon reaching Kathmandu, you can utilize your time for the last minute shopping or you can explore the city. We celebrate the Farewell Dinner together with the trekking team and spend overnight at the hotel.

Day 17: Final Departure

Today, you take the returning flight to your hometown. Our representatives will assist you to reach the airport. You return to your home with an unforgettable travel experience in Nepal.
